RBB Melbourne are pleased to have provided QS finance services for 7 modern townhouses in Wantirna South. The townhouses reached practical completion on 23 September 2019 and were completed on time and on budget.
As testament to the service we provided on this project the Client is reappointing us to provide QS finance services at their subsequent development in the same area. We look forward to building upon our relationship with the Client and seeing their next endeavour reach completion in the first quarter of 2020.

RBB is delighted to announce the promotion of Ken Chua and Sean Brosnan to Associate Director.

Sean has over nineteen years of industry experience, eight of which have been with RBB. Sean specialises in commercial, health, age care and residential including the successful completion of Belmont Forum Shopping Centre, Fiona Stanley Hospital, Warren Hospital and Rosewood Age Care. Sean is currently involved in Kings Square Civic Centre Fremantle.

Ken has over thirty-seven years of industry experience, fourteen of which have been with RBB. Ken specialises in commercial projects including the successful completion of Mandurah Forum Shopping Centre, Ocean Keys Shopping Centre, Cockburn Shopping Centre as well as Wesley College Refurbishment Works, Oceanique Luxury Apartments and AIM Expansion. Ken is currently involved in the major expansion of Karrinyup Shopping Centre.

Both Ken and Sean have consistently proven to be a vital part of our team demonstrating leadership, integrity and a willingness to go above and beyond.

Narrogin Health Services

RBB are proud to have provided full cost management services to WACHS and BMW on the redevelopment of the Narrogin Health Services hospital. Designed by Silver Thomas Hanley the project includes a new outpatient building, two new birthing rooms with ensuites, a new inpatient ward, theatre, procedure room, sterilising department, dental department, chemotherapy services and refurbished kitchen. Congratulations to Icon and all involved as the project nears completion.

Mulgrave Primary School Gymnasium

RBB Melbourne is pleased to be providing full Quantity Surveying services to the Victorian School Building Authority for Mulgrave Primary School’s new gymnasium. RBB have provided cost planning throughout all design stages and a tender evaluation, and we look forward to seeing the project through to completion throughout the contract administration phase.

Tectura Architects’ designed gymnasium has been awarded to Renew Constructions who are set to break ground in September 2019. The project features an indoor sports hall, classroom space, a community stage, staff room, kitchen, change rooms and toilets. The gymnasium will function as the school’s new assembly hall with the first gathering scheduled for Term 3, 2020.

RBB Melbourne are pleased to have provided QS finance services for Castello Hotel Group’s new warehouses in Keysborough. Two warehouses with a combined GFA of 3,670m2, feature an attractive composite clad external façade, high quality internal office space and polished concrete floors. On 24 July 2019 the warehouses reached Practical Completion ahead of schedule and on budget. This development is a fantastic example of the increasing quality in the commercial building space.

Kings Square – Project Bank Account

RBB is pleased to be involved with another first in WA. In February 2019, the City of Fremantle and Pindan Construction signed a contract to build the new civic centre and library at Kings Square to the sum of $41.3 million. A first for a local council in Western Australia, the City of Fremantle has included a Project Bank Account as part of the contract. The Project Bank Account will improve the speed and reliability of payment for subcontractors, with subcontractors required to be paid within one day of the head contractor. RBB are providing full cost management services for the project and is looking forward to a successful project outcome for all stakeholders.

RBB Melbourne wishes to congratulate Andrew Lu on his outstanding performance at the 22nd Australian Dragon Boat Championships held in Canberra over the Easter weekend. Andrew competed in six races together with his Melbourne Flames teammates, achieving podium position for each race, securing 2 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal. Andrew devotes several hours to volunteering as a trainee coach with the Melbourne Flames and holds the position of Associate Director on Dragon Boat Victoria’s board. RBB is proud to recognize and support staff in their personal achievements, congratulations Andrew!

At the conference Peter launched the Construction Financing Reports Guidance Note on behalf of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. Following the launch of the Guidance Note, Peter presented on the Importance of Quantity Surveyors and Reporting to Financial Institutions.

Karratha Health Campus

On 24 October Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan officially opened the $207.15 million Karratha Health Campus project the largest health infrastructure investment in regional WA’s history. The project was procured under Managing Contractor [MC] Contract. The project was completed on time and within budget.

As they say, time flies when you're having fun… it’s over 12 months now, since RBB opened our doors in Melbourne on 1st August 2017.
From a zero start base RBB Melbourne has secured over 60 projects in this 12 month period and now has a staff base of 4. Projects secured range from single residential to high density multi-residential, mixed use developments, industrial, health, education, local authority and community projects.
Our client base is also varied being financial institutions, private architects, project management firms, health authorities, private developers, local authorities and contractors.
The Melbourne team look forward to continually working with our existing clients and with new clients over the next 12 months and beyond.

Exmouth Boat Harbour Upgrade Officially Opened

On the 9 January Transport Minister Rita Saffioti officially opened the second stage of the Exmouth Boat Harbour upgrade. The upgrade received more than $18 million in funding from the State Government and has transformed the harbour into a modern maritime hub. The works included an 88 metre extension to the wharf, with a 40 metre heavy lift zone, heavy vehicle parking area, new cyclone moorings, four new trawler pens and raising of the southern breakwater by two metres, construction of a new fuel farm, firefighting infrastructure, upgraded road access and a CCTV system. These upgrades mean the facility can better cater to marine and offshore industries.

RBB provided cost planning / estimating services to GHD and is pleased to be a part of this successful project.

RBB is proud of Clayton Boyd, Sadmir Ceric and Travis O’Neill on fundraising over $1,400 for men’s health with their participation in Movember. Their fundraising is helping the Movember Foundation to address some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. By 2030 the Movember Foundation aims to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%. RBB considers this a noble goal and encourages our staff to get behind the cause and our staff participating.

The Camfield - Perth Stadium's Local Pub

RBB are pleased to be associated with The Camfield, Perth’s latest bar and microbrewery. The licenced venue is set to be one of Western Australia largest pubs with a capacity of 2,500 patrons. Located only 80m from Perth Stadium the venue aims to accommodate local sport enthusiasts and the community alike. The Camfield will offer a function centre, main bar, container bar, beer garden and a microbrewery across the 8,000sqm site. It will host patrons 7 days a week with the promise of entertainment on its big screens of all genres, from sport to family movies. The project is due for completion late February 2018.

Dumas House

RBB is proud to be associated with the restoration of Dumas House, a heritage listed 14 storey office building that is approximately 50 years old. It consists of a concrete encased steel frame, with insitu concrete suspended floor slabs. The project is for the full restoration of the external façade and podium deck and includes the following:

• Removal of asbestos balcony tiles, balcony waterproofing, podium deck waterproofing and miscellaneous sealants
• Concrete repairs to reinforced concrete suspended balcony slabs and encasement to steel frame
• Removal of defective precast concrete spandrel panels and replacement with new precast units with quartz exposed aggregate
• Removal of reconstituted black terrazzo external column cladding with new granite cladding (sourced from Italy)
• Replacement of balcony tiles
• Repairs to and recoating to Tyrolene balcony soffit render
• Replacement blue glazed stack bonded brickwork to East and West elevations
• New entrance canopy
• Repairs to podium balustrading and other general repairs

The North façade is now complete with works continuing on the South, East and West facades.

Works are due for completion mid-2018.
